In the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, the athlete became an international sensation when she scored the first ever perfect ten in sport's history. Additionally, Comaneci went on to earn six more perfect tens in order to be one of the youngest Olympic Gold medalist. Nadia Comaneci managed to attract international attention and aid in helping Romania get its place in the global spotlight. The sports icon was a worldwide sensation after she came up with an unbeatable performance. She created a legend as well as helped make gymnastics a popular sport around the globe. This changed the perception of female athletes.
