O'Grady is the daughter of Jim O'Grady and Jan O'Grady. Jim O'Grady works as financial advisor. Her parents raised her within Wheaton (Illinois) as well. She completed her studies in 1981 at the North High School in Wheaton. The model was featured in a few commercials prior to her move from Illinois' Wheaton to Los Angeles. The career of O'Grady began as an actress in commercials and models for Montgomery Ward.
